The procedure for solving a design task follows a pattern: the design process.
In our University final exam (the Bachelor-Thesis), we have set ourselves the task of documenting our approach during the analysis and design. Which methods can improve the quality and what factors play a role in the design process?
In order to produce as much "design" as possible, we have subjected our design to certain, specific rules and methods during a 25 day long period. We then documented our methods in detail.
As an creative output we choose the poster.
The topic fot the poster is the main article from a daily newspaper.
You got only one day to produce at least one poster.
The result was a series of 112 posters, information graphics and an analysis of our 'working method'. These give an insight into the design process and furthermore provide opportunities to improve the quality. The empirical work is not created and does not see itself as a generally valid recipe (not sure what you mean here?). It should be a contribution to the current debate on poster design and possibly contribute to the ongoing discourse among designers.
